Smartphone         智能手機的利與弊

We’ve come a long way in terms of technological (形容詞:科技的) progress in our world today.  Arguably, the electronic device (名詞:電子儀器) to have the largest impact on today’s culture (名詞:文化) is the “smartphone”.  As an American-born Chinese student myself, I have personally felt the influence of smartphone use, and it has not only impacted the way I live my life but also the way I see the world. There are definitely positive and negative effects smartphone use has had on today’s youth。

科技得以發展到今天，是一條漫長的路。在眾多電子儀器中，影響今日的文化最為深遠的，可算是智能手機。作為一個土生土長的美籍華裔大學生，我覺智能手機影響的，不但是我個人的生活模式，也包括了我對世界的觀點。至於智能手機的使用，對今日青少年的影響，可說是好壞參半。

Letter to the loner    給孤單的你

Moving to a new country is like creating (動詞:創造) a new Facebook Account. You start with zero friends and an empty profile (名詞:檔案).  Imagine (動詞:聯想,想像) all those friends from back home have all been taken away, and you are left alone in this new environment (名詞:環境)  where you don’t recognize (名詞:辨別) one face. Yes, I have been there and I hope I can change that for you.

遷居到一個新的國家，就好像開一個新的「臉書」戶口，沒有朋友，檔案一片空白。試想你故鄉的朋友全被拿走了，只剩下你一個人，孤零零地面對對著新的環境、陌生的臉孔。是的，我也曾有過這樣的經歷，我盼望能助你一把。

What more can I ask for? Life is good and easy. I go to my dream school, I get to drive a car, and I go and I speak “perfect” English as if I was born here.

生活是如此地如意，夫復何求？我進入夢想中的大學，自己開車，說一口流利得跟本地人沒有兩樣的英語。
